Garrisoned by the two right ﬂank companies of the 57th Georgia, commanded by Lieutenant Colonel Cincinnatus Guyton, and emplacing two guns, this work was not the object of a direct Federal attack during the 47-day siege. Two sorties were made from this work by its garrison, reinforced by the left companies of the 43rd Tennessee.
